In Massachusetts the Department of Revenue (DOR) has announced an upcoming remote public hearing on proposed regulations around cannabis delivery and state sales tax. Over the past year the Cannabis Control Commission has successfully launched the delivery operator and courier delivery licenses. Members of the public will have the opportunity to provide feedback on regulations that the DOR has proposed regarding the collection of taxes from cannabis delivery operators and couriers.
The updates will clearly explain how delivery transactions are impacted by the collection of taxes. The draft also explains how advance tax payment requirements apply to certain marijuana retailers. The remote public hearing will take place on June 1st at 10am via WebEx. Individuals that notify DOR of their intent to testify at the hearing will be afforded an earlier opportunity to speak. Individuals who would like to testify are strongly encouraged to send their full name, mailing address and organization or affiliation, if any to RulesandRegs@dor.state.ma.us by May 31, 2022.
Individuals who are unable to submit testimony by email should mail written testimony to the Rulings and Regulations Bureau, Post Office Box 9566, Boston, Massachusetts 02114-9566. Written testimony must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on June 1, 2022.
