Old Saybrook Zoning Commission wont approve dispensary application

Old Saybrook blocks Fine Fettle dispensary over traffic concerns

The Zoning Commission in Old Saybrook Connecticut used traffic concerns to turn down an applicant asking for permission to open recreational cannabis dispensary at 233 Boston Post Road. The company, Fine Fettle, has experience in the cannabis industry operating three medical cannabis dispensaries in Connecticut. According to reporting from CT Examiner this site was one of two locations that Old Saybrook officials said that they would accept an application for a retail cannabis dispensary from. Fine Fettle said that they were willing to work with the town to mitigate any issues such as operating by appointment only. Some members of the board were worried that the business would attract more customers than the site could handle. The Police Chief had also spoke out against the project claiming that the smell of marijuana would fill the air and require the town to expand their police force at tax payer expense. The Zoning Commission ultimately voted 3 opposed and 2 in favor.
