The Robert S. Cox Special Collections and University Archives Research Center (SCUA) and the UMass Amherst Libraries has announced a full-day symposium that will honor the life of the late Lester Grinspoon, a pioneer in cannabis literature. The event will be held on June 24th, 2022. Funds from the event will be used to digitize Dr. Grinspoon’s work and to raise awareness of the drug policy archives held in SCUA.
The symposium includes many speakers that were close to Dr. Grinspoon or worked with him. The keynote speech will come from Carl Hart, a psychologist and neuroscientist from Columbia University. The cost to attend is $150.00 which includes parking, food, as well as access to the entire event. After June 10, 2022, this ticket cost increases to $190.00. Virtual attendance costs $175.00 and increases to $215.00 after June 10th.
