New Hampshire legalization could be getting a big update

Amendment could merge New Hampshire legalization proposals

Discussions coming out of the House Commerce and Consumer Affairs committee have revealed that lawmakers are considering merging the two competing legalization bills. Chairman John Hunt introduced the lengthy amendment that would combine many of the aspects. Changes include no longer allowing home cultivation. The amendment would still allow cannabis business to be privately owned but would put the Liquor Commission in control of regulating the industry instead of a cannabis commission. A vote is expected to be taken at an upcoming meeting on whether or not to adopt the amendment. Advocates are critical of the amendment saying it is not thoughtful approach and does not take into consideration the lessons learned from states that have already legalized cannabis without major societal issues.
