Cannabis committee announces second hearing on June 27th

Lawmakers schedule veteran access and equity hearing on Beacon Hill

The Joint Committee on Cannabis Policy is holding their second hearing in the month of June to hear feedback from the public on the issues of access and equity. The hearing will take place on June 27th at 1pm at room 1A of the Massachusetts State House. There are eleven bills on the agenda including proposals that would allow veterans to qualify for the medical use of marijuana program using documentation from the VA, several bills aimed at increasing equitable participation in the cannabis industry, and a pilot program that would study the use of medical marijuana for veterans who are being treated for opioid use disorder.

At the Cannabis Control Commission’s June meeting the agency voted unanimously to support a statement of policy that mirrors the bill that seeks to expand access to medical cannabis for veterans who receive care through the VA. The deadline to sign up to speak at the hearing is Monday June 26th at 5pm. The notice of the hearing and instructions to submit written testimony are available below.
